Thanks natho316 because Eden Park is in such a subbruan area the only way they could get the redevelopment approved by the local residences was by putting up the acoustic shield. Hence, it’s intended simply to reduce the noise coming out but it should also have the added benefit of bouncing more of the crowd noise back into the stadium which will be great when the stadium isn’t at full capacity (such as pool matches for the rwc).
